Natural Dye and Pigments on Paper
My paintings are created on paper with handmade dyes from natural materials using methods and recipes, centuries old. My process includes a bit of chemistry, observation of plants and seasonal cycles and research about the origins of color.

My work depicts a fanciful world of somewhat realistic animals - mostly trying to be metaphors for the human condition is a wide variety of conditions.
Today's world seems to need a bit more humor, peace, and contemplation. My creatures do their best to make the lives of particular humans a little more fun and/or relaxed. They do this through word, deed, texture, and color. Yes, my animals can talk, dance, and sometimes laugh!

Although I work in several painting mediums, I prefer pastel on sanded board and watercolor on 300# hot press paper.
As a lifelong Minnesota artist, I have exhibited at several twin city art venues. My Honeycrisp Apple entry for this show is included in the Flora and Fauna Illustrata project at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
