FIber and Wearable

William and Linda Sumner

Minneapolis

Impressionistic fiber landscapes made of wool seek to reflect the distilled, quiet spaces of land, horizon and sky. The image is dry-felted with a needle, anchoring one wisp at a time for layer upon layer of color. Each textile is uniquely finished in wood.

Naomi Siegal

Hunter-Smith Handwovens, Minneapolis

Handwoven scarves and shawls created from silk, cotton, wool and other fine natural fibers. I create the designs and patterns, hand-dye the yarn and weave on 16 harness AVL dobby looms. I believe that what you wear can lift you spirits and improve your outlook, so I am proud to be able to create art that is both decorative and functional.

I am a milliner. I design cut and sew all of my hats I use every imaginable fabrics and techniques. My work is classic rather than trendy and is of heirloom quality. Form is important to me and so is function. I bring a wide array of choices, with hats for all seasons and for all tastes. The SAP Art Fair is a delightful venue to show my work.

Mariella TerBeest-Schladweiler

Helen’s Daughters Handbags, Preston

I design/construct upholstery fabric handbags. My design aim is to adorn them with unexpected details. I start by sketching a design out on paper and draft a pattern. I work with color, pattern, and blend a combination of fabrics which develops into a unique look to the handbag.

Sharon Cherney

Natterjacks, Clayton, WI

Machine stitched soft leather bags and belts. Decorative elements include cut work, trapunto and applique. My passion has always been sewing. I have pursued that passion for the past forty years by sewing leather bags. I love selling at art fairs because of the connection with customers. I also enjoy making custom bags.

Barbara Geurink Geurink

Hot off the loom, Eau Claire, WI

I hand weave original designed functional work for personal fashion (scarves and infinity scarves) and for interiors, pillows, table runners, mohair throws and coasters. I use natural fibers and enhance my work with beads, and interesting accent threads. Every handwoven piece is preshrunk and professionally finished by myself.

Cindy Brown

Cindy’s Rag RUgs, Blaine

Rugs woven on a floor loom made from 100% recycled fabric (old clothing, blankets, etc). I come from a family of weavers and learned to weave as a child. I bought my first loom 35 years ago. I use all recycled natural fabrics (cotton or wool), giving new life to things that would otherwise be in the trash, to create these functional pieces of art.
